Boston Common

Boston Common

The oldest public park in the United States (1634) and the lively heart of downtown, with shaded paths, open lawns, and the Frog Pond (a wading/splash spot in summer, ice rink in winter). It's the starting point of the Freedom Trail and is always busy with picnickers, street performers, and dog walkers. Practical note: it sits right atop the Boylston and Park Street T stops, so it's an easy first stop for any visitor.
