Lincoln Memorial

Lincoln Memorial

A neoclassical temple housing Daniel Chester French's colossal seated statue of Abraham Lincoln, inscribed with the Gettysburg Address and Second Inaugural. Go for the sweeping view east down the Reflecting Pool toward the Washington Monument and Capitol, and to stand where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. Open 24 hours and free; it is most atmospheric at night when the chamber is lit and crowds thin.
